Rudy Stone (L) and Mike Castañon kept watch from 11p.m. to 11:30 p.m. during the 24-hour patriotic vigil at the Mexican All Wars Memorial at Cinco Puntos on Sunday March 30, 2010. The 63rd Annual Memorial Day observance was held at the intersection of Lorena St., Indiana St., and Avenida Cesar Chavez in Los Angeles.

This past weekend I went to Santa Monica and saw the Arlington West Memorial by the pier. On the Arlington West Memorial site I saw this video on Latinos being targeted by recruiters.
Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall was put up at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA on March 23, 2010 and will be there until March 30, 2010.
Avenida Cesar Chavez

On Sunday January 31, 2010 I shot a Flag Retirement Ceremony held at the American Legion Post 804 on Avenida Cesar Chavez in East LA.. Five LA County Fire Department Explorers folded over 30 flags that were dropped off by local residents. During the ceremony members of the post, other veterans and family members dropped flags into a pit to be properly disposed.
The Eastsider LA also used the photos.
Daniel Hernandez Awarded Silver Star After 43 Years

After 43 years, Daniel Hernandez was awarded a Silver Star medal for diving through enemy fire to pick up a wounded Marine and carry him to safety in Vietnam. Hernandez was 20 when he served as a machine gunner with a company, which was among the hardest hit during the Vietnam War, loosing 17 men on March 5, 1966. Several hundred veterans, friends and relatives gathered for the ceremony in Hernandez’ honor at the Hollenbeck Youth Center in Los Angeles on October 3, 2009.

62nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony & 24 Hour Vigil

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4696 and American Legion Post 804 of East Los Angeles is having it's 62nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony & 24 Hour Vigil. The vigil starts at 10 am on Sunday May 24th, 2009 and the Memorial Day ceremony starts at 10am on May 25, 2009 at the Mexican American All Wars Memorial at Cinco Puntos (Lorena St. and Avenida Cesar Chavez).
