Antique Style Car Club Show
September 09, 2009
Carlos Puma told me that I need to shoot more often to prepare for a freelance shooter life. I am trying to give myself at least one "assignment " a week. I shot a lowrider car show organized by Antique Style Car Club in Azusa, CA a few weeks back and realized how rusty I really am. It made me appreciate the excellent work of Jae Bueno and Big Mando even more.
Big Mando

Armando "BigMando" Aldama is relatively new lowrider photographer. He has only been shooting photos of lowriders for about 2 years but has been cruising carshows from Southern California to Central Arizona since the age of 15. He is currently a photographer for Impalas Magazine in the Phoenix Area.
Big Mando credits photographer Jae Bueno, Dustin "El Volo" Pedder and Juan "Kutty" Barrera as his inspirations. "Their creative eye and style is what motivates me to shoot! A lot of my photos have people in them and not only the car! I like to show that people enjoy the lowrider art, culture and love the lifestyle!"
Jae Bueno's Lowrider Culture
May 07, 2009
Jae Bueno was born in Boyle Heights and raised in East LA and the San Gabriel Valley. His love for custom cars started when he was very young. As a kid he painted his Hot Wheels and BMX bikes.
Bueno started casually taking photos since high school to document car shows he attended as well as graffiti and cars he built. Bueno started contributing to Lowrider, Girls of Lowrider, DUB and Heavy Hitters Magazine on a regular basis since he bought my first DSLR in 2006.
Beautiful cars and family values keeps him shooting the lowrider culture. "Lowriding isn't what it was in the 80's. It is all family oriented now and the quaility of the cars has improved so much. To me lowriders or custom cars in general are a excellent subject to shoot. "
Taking photos has become a family affair in the Bueno home. His wife Stephanie sometimes works as a second shooter on his shoots. My son Julian, who uses a uses a point his big sister gave him, also take photos and has a page on Bueno's blog.
